Right of Return

Lebanon supports the Right of Return for Palestinian refugees in accordance with the UN General Assembly’s resolution number 194.
At the 186th plenary meeting on 11 December 1948, a committee of the Assembly consisting of the five States designated in paragraph 3 of the above resolution proposed that the following three States should constitute the Conciliation Commission: France, Turkey, United States of America.

“The refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible”Article 11 of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194- 1948.

“The government […] is attached to the […] UN resolutions pertaining to the Palestinian people's national rights, including Resolution 194 that concerns the General Assembly. In this context, the government emphasizes its commitment to the provisions of the Constitution, and reiterates its call for the Palestinians' right to return to their homes and its adamant rejection of the Palestinians' naturalization in Lebanon.” pt. 12 of the Ministerial Statement of President of the Council of Ministers Najib Mikati’s Cabinet, 30 June, 2011.
