Righ To Education

“Ensure that education covers all areas of the country, including the living areas of refugees, bearing in mind that the mandate of the UNRWA covers the educational needs of Palestinian refugees” - Recommendation No 80.39. formulated by Yemen, during the Universal Periodic Review interactive dialogue;
it was approved and welcomed by the official Lebanese delegation during the last Lebanon report, presented in Geneva on 17/03/2011.

The educational process is commonly based on a three-pillar practice: family, community and educational institutions/professionals. Still, the case of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon involves other stakeholders, namely UNRWA, the UN agency assuming the main and most vital provisions.
If school can de dubbed as the chief social institution vested in instructing and tutoring future generations, empowering them with the means to help themselves and their communities, light had to be shed on the Lebanese government’s fostering, via the Ministry of Education, and its contribution in streamlining and improving the educational process. Providing education to Palestinian students and preparing them to pragmatic life and work, will definitely contribute to the overall development of the Palestinian community, as the main beneficiaries of the educational system’ success.
Seeking to promote an insightful generation well-aware of its educational, social or national responsibilities in serving the Palestinian cause and fulfilling the Right to Return, the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC) considered the STUDENT as the main element in planning its educational action.
Answering all Frequently Asked Questions by Palestinian students (and families) to flatten any impediment that would hinder their educational path in Lebanese educational institutions, explaining all the administrative requirements, clarifying the role of the Lebanese Ministry of Education in fostering their educational proficiency and providing clear-cut and precise information, was at the basis of the LPDC drive to publish a manual that is expected to provide information for students, their families and professionals about Lebanese schools and universities.

In this context, LPDC prepared an Education booklet, “The Guide of Palestinian Students in the Lebanese Schools and Universities”. It provides a useful tool for Palestinians in the lebanese institutions.
