The President of the Council of ministers issued a
Circular and a clarification about endorsing the documents issued by the Palestinian Authority with regard to the Palestinians civil status. The text of the circular stipulated the following:
“According to the circular issued by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, number 29/2011 dated 25/11/2011, all public institutions and departments and municipalities were requested to endorse the documents issued by the Palestinian Authority with regard to the Palestinians civil status in terms of birth, death, marriage and divorce registration.”
The idea is not to adopt them exclusively and discard other documents. There was a need to clarify the content of the circular: “to endorse the documents issued by the Palestinian Authority with regard to the Palestinians civil status in terms of birth, death, marriage and divorce registration, while resuming the endorsement of the civil status documents issued by the Directorate of Refugees Affairs at the Ministry of Interior as well as all other documents that were previously endorsed.”
As for the relation of the Palestinian refugees with the Directorate of the Political and Refugees Affairs (DPRA), at the Ministry of Interior (MoIM), LPDC prepared a
guide entitled “The Palestinians and the Directorate of Political and Refugees Affairs”. The DPRA-LPDC guide was released by minister of Interior, Brigadier General Marwan Charbel at a press conference held at the MoIM; it seeks to clarify and simplify the administrative procedures related to the Palestinian refugees’ civil status documentation in Lebanon and contribute in supporting and improving the living conditions of the Palestinian refugees until they regain their homeland, Palestine.
In addition to the issues raised in this legal section, LPDC deals with various topics related to the establishment of the Palestinian state, the Lebanese-Palestinian relations and the challenges of the legislation ruling the status of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
