Two million USD from Japan to upgrade the infrastructure in Ain el Helwe camp

Inpecting the Ain el Helwe refugee’s camp in Saida, south Lebanon, a delegation from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) accompanied by UNRWA representatives and Ambassador Abdel Majid Kassir, Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee’s president, heading a delegation of LPDC technical team, announced that JICA allocated two million USD to upgrade the infrastructure and sewage network in Ain el Helwe and neighbouring area.  
JICA’s delegation, headed by Kotaro Tanaka, Chief of the Middle East Section, met with Mahmoud el Sayyed, UNRWA director in Saida, Abed Makdah, Secretary General of the Palestinian popular committees in Lebanon, Fouad Othman, popular committees secretariat’s member and Mohamed Mowed, PLO representative.   Tanaka announced that JICA allocated a two-million-USD-grant to fund the first stage of the infrastructure rehabilitation project in Ain el Helwe camp.
Ambassador Kassir conveyed his appreciation for JICA and the agencies supervising the project for their contribution in improving the sanitary services and sewage network in Ain el Helwe and the neighbouring area. He expressed LPDC’s readiness to provide all forms of assistance to alleviate the hardship of the Palestinian refugees as a step to address all pending live hood issues.  
The delegation toured the camp accompanied by members from the popular committees to check the defined area of works.
